Queen Latest Band To Be Playing The Olympics

If you are to believe everything you read, and take it from us, you should believe everything us journalists say, then you would be under the impression that both (a version of) The Beatles and The Rolling Stones are playing at the Olympics. Apparently Queen are the latest band to be playing at the 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony.

Obviously these are all just rumours, and Paul McCartney has denied The Beatles' part, and Mick Jagger has denied The Rolling Stones' part. So who is the third best quintessentially British rock-band? Well obviously it's Queen... apparently, and according to Roger Taylor, they would do it with Paul Rodgers:

"I wouldn't rule it out. In fact I read the other day Paul said he wouldn't mind doing something. If something came up as special, we could maybe do that, maybe the Olympics or something. But I certainly wouldn't rule it out and he is a wonderful singer, there's no doubt about that."

The band have also announced that they are handpicking members of the public to form a Queen tribute band, called The Queen Extravaganza. As far as we can tell, this is only open to American fans. The idea is to shoot a video of yourself drumming, playing bass, playing guitar, or singing, and then you can upload it to QueenExtravaganza.com, the winner will then be chosen a panel fronted by Roger Taylor.
