Two Years Of Polyphonic Tuning

TC Electronic celebrates PolyTune's 2 Year anniversary with a reduced price for PolyTune for iPhone 13-Jan-12

TC Electronic says that the PolyTune pedal changed the game for guitarists all over the world in January 2009. With the new polyphonic tuning technology, tuning became faster and easier than ever. By simply strumming all strings simultaneously, PolyTune displays the tuning state of each string in a single, easy-to-read view. This way of tuning guitars and basses allows for much faster tuning – and for getting back to the all-important thing: Playing.

Many great artists have also picked up on the idea of polyphonic tuning, and today TC PolyTune pedals are sitting comfortably in the tour rigs of rock stars like John Petrucci, Steve Morse, Guthrie Govan and more.

Later, TC Electronic launched the PolyTune concept as an iPhone app, which is the perfect solution for acoustic guitars without a pickup. The app is a 1:1 port of the original PolyTune pedal, and it received an overwhelming response. Now, TC is offering this ground-breaking app at just $0.99 until Thursday 19 January 2012. Normal price is $4.99.

Pricing and Availability:
$0.99 until Thursday 19 January 2012. Normal price is $4.99

Yes.

TheCobru 12-Apr-12 08:22 PM

Will it work with drop tunings?

pabiQLLD 26-Mar-12 05:44 AM

@maniac4141 I think he bend the neck of guitar , all of strings drop.

V1nz0rd 28-Dec-11 06:58 AM

listen to what he SAYS when that happens. does that answer your question?

maniac4141 25-Dec-11 08:18 AM

1:54!! it shows as if no string is in tune.. at 2:00 he just tunes one string, but all the other strings are tuned magically.. what's that?

Randomize2009 24-Dec-11 11:55 PM

No? You can also tune them one by one.

kiks1234567 27-Nov-11 11:25 AM

well, Bring Me The Horizons guitarist Jona Weinhofen uses polytune, and they play with C-Drop or Bb-Drop. But I don't know how it works then

Taldegardo92 27-May-11 08:56 PM

wow..awesome guitar, awesome colour, awesome shape... ups, it was a video about tuner

tcelectronic 27-Apr-11 01:59 PM

No it's not normal. When Polytune is engaged the signal should be muted. but try changing the battery or please contact our support.

ChaserHUN 27-Apr-11 07:39 AM

I have a Polytune. But when I engage the pedal, and the amp is on the lead channel, it introduces noise to my rig. Is this normal? I have to put it in front of the noise gate.

CtrlRm 25-Apr-11 08:02 AM

I always play a whole step down....

doom38426 21-Apr-11 03:47 PM

I always play on drop D, polytuning is useless, isn't it?

Fhey1337 11-Feb-11 02:47 AM

didn't sound in tune asshole, way to only hold it for .5 secs

mindingosafado 09-Feb-11 12:07 AM

Leave it to the Scandinavians to be such geniuses ^___^

bluenotes001 05-Feb-11 11:09 PM

I love this tuner, great for stage use. But I have one question. Can anyone tell me what is USB input/output good for? No single one word about this in user manual or anywhere else:), thank you

THMSBLVRT 17-Jan-11 04:08 PM

is this guy nervous or something ?

ironzeppelin44 18-Dec-10 12:21 AM

man, i hate when im fingering a minor and then i break the g string

bigharpbluesband 05-Oct-10 11:51 AM

is it possible an open G tuning in polytune mode?

bluezlick 07-Sep-10 10:43 AM

check at 1:14 :)

mpecoraro 26-Aug-10 01:31 AM

Will this work for 12 string guitars?

TheMannyfr3sh1 25-Aug-10 11:17 PM

haha almost swallows his face at 1.13

theclovek 15-Jul-10 12:14 PM

luggo 28-Jun-10 04:57 AM

Hofner guitar? Purty finish.

guitartec 03-Jun-10 02:48 AM

When might you make a version for retrofit onto a guitar?

modevotion1 19-May-10 02:54 PM

this tuner is great, can't be beat for the price.

$99 is well worth it. it's worked great for me, beats the hell outta my Boss TU-2

abubacar 16-May-10 07:32 PM

i hate when my g string is a little flat.

CentaXBerlin2 24-Apr-10 05:35 PM

you know you're an idiot right?

AdhitiaSofyan 21-Apr-10 03:50 AM

He said "..my G string is a little flat.." :p

PhillipRuthardt 09-Apr-10 10:22 AM

Does the Tuner work if I Just Dropp my E string D?

stinnnnnn 16-Mar-10 01:31 AM

it does

littlewing62 10-Mar-10 03:40 PM

that's what makes the guitar so sexy. just like the violin it's never really in tune, but it sounds damn good.

davidzkingdom 22-Feb-10 09:18 AM

pretty cool. I used to use a TC Electronics Chorus/flanger and really liked it so much, I used it for backvocals as well. good stuff...

Darkmatter2 12-Feb-10 01:15 AM

My bad, it does!

Darkmatter2 12-Feb-10 01:14 AM

No 7 string guitar tuning? It should incorporate a traditional method as well for odd strings.

drfeelgoodlanzarote 11-Feb-10 09:55 AM

Ha ha, 1:16 even he is impressed by it. Seems a great device.

ITubeSheTubes 10-Feb-10 02:30 PM

Not there yet. Guitars are "untunable" by nature. Guitarists, especially classical, do not tune their instruments to 100% equal-temperament. They make slight adjustments depending on the piece they are playing.

The revolution will happen when tuners can recognize and remember all these nuances. +- 1 cent accuracy cant distinguish a perfect fifth from an equal temperament one.

Good enough for rock'n'roll? Maybe. But guitarists will continue bending the strings to get the right note.

TheNinetySecond 31-Jan-10 06:06 PM

He's danish, and you're being kind of a dick right now...

elbuddero 26-Jan-10 06:27 PM

As far as I understood you can toggle different tunings on the top side of the pedal... i remembered drop d being said, but don't know about drop c. But i'd guess it's included as well...

For someone who switches tunings often on rehearsals/gigs (like me) not so brilliant with all the toggling, but maybe auto-tuning-detection will come in future revisions. It's revolutionary enough as-is right now. ;-)

MaestrosounD 22-Jan-10 11:59 AM

genious concept and well executed product

ManUJaco 21-Jan-10 09:15 PM

he isn't German he's Danish :D But his accent is still terrible !! :D

somaAndi 21-Jan-10 06:41 AM

great great pedal but there is one question that remains. how are tunings like dropped-d or dropped-c handled? will it tell me that the lowest string is flat while the others are ok? if the pedal could handle that I would instantly buy one!!!

does anybody now? the author maybe ;)

trunkki 19-Jan-10 08:10 PM

Great accent, man! :D

elbuddero 19-Jan-10 12:33 PM

Yeah but I'd say "regular tuning" is not the main goal for this pedal anyway... being able to check fast and easy if all your strings are in tune at once is priceless for live gigs - if you don't have a guitar tech that hands you a perfectly tuned guitar after each song, which I guess most of us (unfortunately :-P) don't have... Everything that reduces the time fiddling with the tuning is recieved with pleasure. Conclusion: I like it, too! ;-)

Brian7490 18-Jan-10 08:27 PM

is there a G tuning setting?
