WNAMM12: MPCs Powered By iZotope

iZotope partners with Akai to provide Loop Slicing and Time Stretching technology for next generation MPCs 21-Jan-12

iZotope, Inc. has announced a new partnership with Akai Professional to provide iZotope's Radius time-stretching algorithm and Loop Slicing Engine for future products in the MPC line, including the new MPC Renaissance and MPC Studio. Combining MPC hardware with new MPC software, these are the first MPCs designed to harness the processing power of a user's Mac or PC.

Alex Westner, iZotope's Director of Business Development, told Sonic State, "The MPC is a giant in music production history. iZotope is very excited that our technology can make the MPC a more powerful and flexible hybrid of hardware and software."

Dan Gill, Akai Professional Product Manager, added "Top-notch audio is essential when updating a beloved product line like the MPC Series. Zotope's loop-slicing and time-stretching technology were critical to making the new MPC products sound great."

iZotope's Loop Slicing Engine
The Loop Slicing Engine provides an extended suite of slicing tools, compatible with both Chop Shop and REX file formats. The engine's unique algorithm maintains high quality audio throughout real-time loop manipulation while remaining lightweight in terms of processing power.

The MPC line takes advantage of additional features such as:

  • Manual and automatic loop slicing
  • Slicing and stretching with per-slice stretching options
  • Triggering of individual slices or the entire loop from beginning to end
  • Transient detection
  • Pitch shifting via cents or semitones

iZotope Radius
The MPC line is the most recent of many popular products that license this world-class algorithm for natural and transparent time stretching and pitch shifting.

Pricing and Availability:
Availability Akai Professional will unveil MPC Renaissance and MPC Studio will be available for purchase in Q3 2012.iZotope's Loop Slicing Engine, Radius, and a host of other audio technologies are currently available for third-party licensing.

I dont know that Studio look a little light in the ass lol you could have at least made the screen flip up & a midi in and out in the rear. at 599 maschine has more physicial Midi Outs. This looks tooooo FLAT at 599 maschine would be a better buy. maschine Mikro is only 399 you should call this Renaissance Mikro and sell it for 399. HIPHOP made in amercia but you pay 599 live in th UK buy it for 399 hmmmmmmmmm

fortgreene31 24-Apr-12 02:35 PM

snakevids 19-Apr-12 01:05 PM

its way over priced. 500, 1000 and 2500 are worse than legacy MPCs. 1000 and 2500 have such bad OS that a user had to make his own, and this JJ OS is more popular that standard AKAI. Listen to your users. Listen to those that supported you to build a legacy. Analog outputs, fantastic internal FX, stand alone, bullet proof machines is what we need. the internal memory is a joke in legacy machines...but it is still a joke in your currently line. 16MB standard? Are you serious? 128MB is $140? cmon.

TWGmusic 14-Apr-12 05:41 AM

How can a good company like AKAI use such a lousy and bad promotion video? AKAI wants to sell their products... but not with an ad like this! How can they sell their product with a bad ad like this? Horrible! You should do a much better video to reach a bigger audience!

Akai MPC Studio looks promising and hopefully it has a realy good build quality and good pads. The pads on "Machine" aren't the best ones...

man yo 12-Apr-12 12:35 PM

glsmokerUS 07-Apr-12 12:03 PM

i think best is 2500 or 4000... 5000 is shit :p

xCLsmoothx14x 27-Mar-12 11:19 AM

And one more thing. Do u NEED a computor like u do with the reinassance?

xCLsmoothx14x 26-Mar-12 10:12 PM

Hey guys. Im a beginner at producing. I started usin ipad apps to make songs n stuff. Now i wanna get some good equipment that is easy to use and is a reasonable price. Would u guys recomend this?

MakkaBamp 24-Mar-12 05:54 PM

Do you need a computer with this?

AkaiProVideo 21-Mar-12 03:46 PM

Aside from the fact that legacy MPCs are legacy because they are no longer produced, the Renaissance IS like having a legacy MPC. Not only can it sound exactly like an MPC3000 and emulate others, the workflow is the same. If you're used to working on an MPC you can get your head into this and know what to do straightaway, without even looking at the computer. However, when you need it, your computer is there to provide vastly more than a legacy MPC could ever provide.

DanCiTi 19-Mar-12 04:10 AM

is it possible to just have the computer software + use a legacy MPC as a controller? I feel like that would be more interesting.

TheRapstafari 16-Mar-12 05:04 AM

excuse me, can you give the price in US, cuase in a web page it doesn´t appear, and its to sell now ?? Thnx

afropick8 13-Mar-12 10:24 PM

looks at oold mpc

AKanyon 12-Mar-12 03:02 PM

to be honest MPC5000 can only be called studio... any thing that requires PC or MAC is just a contoller anyway...but hey, it's your business, non of my business

Bunechunk 07-Mar-12 08:49 PM

Or you could cut the bullshit and do it right with a release we've waited so long for. What, tellin' us you couldn't just make the Renaissance to be standalone and control the software?

THEmoodyKID 04-Mar-12 02:19 AM

stop fronting its great it even has a software.

dujonTV 02-Mar-12 08:14 PM

They need to hurry up n drop this shit!!

FRB1420 27-Feb-12 10:32 PM

$599, same price as Maschine

YuupTheGreatness 27-Feb-12 09:52 PM

Hey Could someone help me out im trying to figure out if i should get this or the MPK61 , I originally planned on getting this but idk im wondering if id be better off with the keys at my disposal , HELP would be appreciated thank you Lmao

TheOPTIMYSTICALbeats 26-Feb-12 02:28 AM

why does it say same mpc software ? when has any other mpc been software based ? and so this one is gonna be $599 yet the renaissance will be double that just for more knobs bigger size an inputs ? im not gonna pass full judgement until i use one of these but its obvious your trying to compete with the maschines market why not make it priced competively aswell ? this does look dope though im still saying that lol

BrianWilliamGreen 25-Feb-12 11:25 PM

why so high, you can buy a used mpc for that.

TheRerouting 24-Feb-12 09:47 PM

600 for a controller that only has pads? the mpd has knobs and faders and cost a lot less and does the same thing.

derOleKk 18-Feb-12 11:57 AM

"MASCHINE Vs MPC Studio .... The battle is on !" MASCHINE WINS!

AkaiProVideo 16-Feb-12 08:23 PM

You can still get the MPC5000.

AkaiProVideo 16-Feb-12 08:15 PM

"Studio" is projected at $599 in the US.

AkaiProVideo 16-Feb-12 08:10 PM

Once it makes it to your local retailer you can put your hands on it. Its hard to judge from a video ;) You won't be disappointed.

ILLSmith 16-Feb-12 08:02 PM

I have a 2500... but i want this too!

JazzyFunkaHolic 14-Feb-12 01:45 PM

Connect it, choose SCSI as Input on the "Shift+Load" Screen ;)

bengoro7 14-Feb-12 04:18 AM

i need help on how to use scsi to my zip drive

ElectrikBear 12-Feb-12 04:42 PM

looks sorta cheap and plasticy. I like the look of the older mpcs more

JazzyFunkaHolic 11-Feb-12 09:02 PM

Why ? Floppys are ok, Scsi is better ...

bengoro7 11-Feb-12 03:10 AM

i have the 2000xl but it kinda sucks using SSCI still lol

dancetech 09-Feb-12 04:48 PM

@KnockSquared - too right! LOL

Oh well at least they changed the name. It was originally going to be called: the Akai-DSFSMF (Dope-shizzle-fo-sure-muthaf*cka)

AkaiProVideo 09-Feb-12 03:46 PM

You can still get an MPC5000 if you prefer a standalone MPC.

bengoro7 09-Feb-12 03:33 AM

be better if it was standalone machine not just a controller

musth23 06-Feb-12 06:15 AM

What is the cost, haven't seen that anywhere.....

SmilesTF1 04-Feb-12 11:58 PM

the software will export/import mpc format...

tbs7duke 30-Jan-12 06:41 AM

awww fuck..i just have a lowly MPC 5000..fuck my life

quentquent13 28-Jan-12 11:22 PM

fruitypebbles904 28-Jan-12 04:08 AM

antimarxism 28-Jan-12 02:41 AM

Go play COD, scrub.

antimarxism 27-Jan-12 03:51 PM

It's $599 list.

Dkamara250 26-Jan-12 11:11 PM

does the akai max 49 use the same software as the new mpcs? :S

fruitypebbles904 23-Jan-12 04:49 PM

seeing as how the Renaissance is $1299, im betting this will be around $700.... they cant compete with Maschine with these wack prices...

bassbasstwotwo 23-Jan-12 03:47 PM

she's dead now... :( first victim of the akai mpc renaissance video.

KnockSquared 23-Jan-12 02:23 PM

bassbasstwotwo 23-Jan-12 11:51 AM
