The Darkness Release New Video

'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us' from watching this ten times 02-Feb-12

They're back. Another catchy rock offering from The Darkness; the band who made me realise it was cool to like Queen.

Lets see how many rock references you can get from this animated video, there are quite a few dotted around, some of them flash up pretty quickly though.

There is also a great image of the 'Pancake Pedal Stacking System' at 1:04, which involves four cartoon distortion pedals stacked on top of each other and stomped at the same time.

Ha ha no worries whatsoever man. He'll probably reply again either trying to rubbish what either of us have said and/or defiantly sticking to his guns. Either way - let him. We both know the story and he can just go on being deluded. Yeah exactly - processed is the exact word! No way - I know Justin said he likes 70s stuff though but I don't think he sees that as the be all and end all when it comes to writing music! Have a confession though in that I do kinda like Nickelback but understand you!

LeeVids1973 22-May-12 12:06 AM

Thanks Sean, doesn't take much to figure that out, total poser garbage with their processed Chad Kroeger type vocals, etc! Thanks for backing me up! anyone who says The Darkness are influenced by 80's cheese, is surely on crack! Thanks Sean!

seanjosephhayes 22-May-12 12:04 AM

Forget about him dude... I just listened to Hinder... They're trying to be the real thing and failing imo. Modern but amateur just trying to use a powerful voice but doesn't sound that great really to me.

seanjosephhayes 21-May-12 11:58 PM

Well said :-) I'm glad you realise that too after they said that in interviews and stuff in the past. I love the sound of the new material and it's so good to have them back and rocking. I was devastated when they split and thought there was no hope at all but they're back and they've still got it. I met them in Dublin in December last year - absolute icing on the cake to the reunion. Never thought I'd meet them. LOVED it! Absolute down to earth gents too!

roycej243 21-May-12 02:34 AM

good job dude

roycej243 21-May-12 12:31 AM

0:35 to replay the song

Fattz86 20-May-12 10:13 PM

Hot Cakes! **** yeah! Bring it on.. The Darkness rocks!

LeeVids1973 20-May-12 09:18 PM

Dude, real man type rock? how about listening to Ramones, New York Dolls, Iggy Pop, which is way more interesting and rock n roll than that gay shit you listen to! Do you really think these guys are remotely interested by shit like Britny Fox or Cinderella!? YOU ARE A FUCKING MORON! No more replies, just die!

plisken1979 20-May-12 01:52 PM

oh my, you really are the most immature person i've probably ever met on you tube. go back to school son, if it were not for the bands i mentioned then the likes of the darkness would not be around you fool. where the hell do you think they got there influences??? you can stick with this wanna-be soft-rock, i'll go and listen to some real man-type-rock...

hunchbakmax 20-May-12 11:54 AM

I love reading all the arguments from musical elitists on these videos, haha. Music is subjective, so insulting other peoples tastes is just retarded. Unless they like Nickelback or something, then it's completely justified to make fun of them. And acting like a musical genre is some sort of secret club that isn't accepting new members is even worse!

dnteoelTlfuck 20-May-12 05:40 AM

darkness is back !!!

banginlikea747 19-May-12 04:26 PM

They are fantastic.

LeeVids1973 19-May-12 11:32 AM

Your talking about Britny Fox, Cinderella and Ratt, your stuck in a timewarp and your gay, those bands all sucked the first time.... typical phony 80's fag, suck a dick! BTW...never mentioned Queen, you did because you are one!=)

SealAngel 19-May-12 02:21 AM

The Darkness are a talented band, but unfortunatley for them their sound gimmick and style is stuck in the 70's.

plisken1979 18-May-12 10:39 PM

wow, it's obvious i'm the adult here as you can only swear 2 get your point across. if you think for one moment that this is gonna get em back to the standard that was on there first LP you do need help. Cinderella, Ratt, Britny Fox and many other bands did it way better back in the day. And i have no need for nostalgia as the genre never died. Next thing we know your probably gonna say The Darkness are better than Queen like so many did when they first hit the big time... Have a nice day! haha

thehitchhikerlm 18-May-12 08:34 PM

Fucking kids talking about something they dont know about. Rock N Roll. Youre either born part of it, or youre not. If youre not, shut the fuck up and go listen to the NutZac Brown Band.

LeeVids1973 18-May-12 10:01 AM

did you actually mention HINDER? You are a clueless motherfucker, that is rock n' roll light, total phony poser shit...are you kidding? You must be one of these guys/girls who lives for nostalgia and still pays good $ to see shit like Cinderella who sucked the first time around! No way to be polite, your a moron! This band writes great songs, AMAZING GUITAR WORK, the mark of QUALITY! idiot!

EddiesHead 15-May-12 08:59 PM

Easy on the falsetto...

saalbachcrew 15-May-12 08:54 PM

mmmmmmmmmm :D

emiliette94 15-May-12 10:37 AM

thank you for coming back <3

emiliette94 15-May-12 10:36 AM

I LOVE YOU <3 <3 <3

plisken1979 14-May-12 11:17 PM

not a very good comeback track in my opinion. better bands about doing the classic rock thing. TOAD and Hinder to name but two. not a bad song at the end of the day, but the chorus really does lack the "bite" that it needs.

ppauly 13-May-12 07:39 PM

its a filler surely

barbs19788 13-May-12 11:24 AM

saw these guys a few nights ago and they were fucking awesome

KingDing3ling 12-May-12 11:32 PM

i want to see them so badly but i am not willing to pay for a lady gaga concert to see them support.

wankerpanther 12-May-12 03:15 PM

Music is dead.

LilyWhiteRiot 10-May-12 10:23 PM

No. They are a fun band, but they are not *just* a fun band. They're serious musicians that simply decided that being serious doesn't have to mean "serious" or worthy - fun is just as valid an aesthetic as sombre. Would they still be at it if they saw themselves as a big joke? No way. It's a shame people only see the spandex and the falsetto, because there's so much more to it than that.

leakeg 09-May-12 03:14 PM

"I had never seen a set of eyes more hazeler" - yep, absolutely brilliant stuff! Dante eat your heart out.

Merceauroix 09-May-12 02:04 PM

FAIRLY AVERAGE?!!??! WHAT?!?!?! ENGLISH COUNTRY GARDEN AND HAZEL EYES ARE BLOODY BRILLIANT!

saalbachcrew 07-May-12 08:45 PM

haters can leave, this is such a good song! also a great video, can't wait for the album! :D <3

rockout7190 06-May-12 07:08 PM

this band is pretty much just a big fat "lets be dorks, because we can"

OuTRunner12 06-May-12 02:31 PM

whooo gives a fuuuuuuuck about the below...i wanna cry like a little girls for their epicness :p love them!!!

leakeg 06-May-12 01:10 PM

those songs are fairly naff and unoriginal... and then there are the lyrics! "I had never seen a set of eyes more hazeler." haha, I know, they're supposed to be funny, but the wink-wink nudge-nudge ironic metal pastiche thing has just gone to far on some of these tracks, after a while I need some sincerity. I'm not saying these songs are bad, they're just nothing brilliant, and certainly aren't doing anything new. It's pop music, and there's nothing wrong with that.

digitalbroadcastmk7 06-May-12 10:20 AM

either you are taking the piss or you have a completely different taste in music to me... apart from seemed like a good idea at the time, the songs you named are some of my favourite songs ever. especially english country garden... oh, and hazel eyes which IS very innovative and awesome, bald is just generally awesome, and blind man sounds like queen which can only ever be a good thing. Forgive me but I don't understand how it is possible not to like those songs...

DahSoup 06-May-12 05:30 AM

not their best song, for sure :/

nacho20301 06-May-12 05:23 AM

it brings me Beavies & butthead, brilliant video an song

leakeg 06-May-12 03:11 AM

If you think 'real rock n roll' (whatever that is supposed to mean) has been gone for any period of time you've been listening to the wrong music. There is so much good rock music out there, it's just not on the charts.

leakeg 06-May-12 03:10 AM

Bald, english country garden, blind man, hazel eyes, seemed like a good idea at the time are all fairly average songs.

luchboxer 06-May-12 02:30 AM

The song is great, can't wait for the album to come out...

hollandcoleman 06-May-12 02:27 AM

WHO KNOWS WHERE I CAN GET THESE GLASSES???

hollandcoleman 06-May-12 02:12 AM

The problem is, when you comment on a video to criticize anybody else, you're stooping to their level(I'm doing it right now). I know some people think The Darkness is "average" and "aren't bringing anything new to the table" but here's the deal: Real Rock 'n Roll has been gone so long that finally hearing a band like The Darkness is really refreshing. And as for whether or not they're awesome, all I'm gonna say is that Justin Hawkins' falsetto gets me every time.

justintylercarey 05-May-12 05:52 PM

You obviously haven't heard her live. Her voice is absolutely INCREDIBLE. I don't know why you keep trying to deny it... You need to watch this ENTIRE video... if this doesn't change your opinion of her voice, then fuck you... /watch?v=bI0zH7CU8Rk&list=FL_DN0H-uXXD8zRUeBj-61qw&index=51&feature=plpp_video

digitalbroadcastmk7 05-May-12 05:00 PM

Ok let me make it quite plain that Justin IS an exceptional singer. I know of nobody else who can sing rock countertenor, with that range, with that clarity, and that controlled. I'm a trained singer so I know a fair bit about that: I don't play guitar, drums or bass so I can't judge the others. Also please name me a bad song from their second album? Apart from girlfriend which is a bit meh, i can't think of a single one which isn't really well done.

leakeg 05-May-12 04:27 PM

they're good musicians, but they're certainly not amazing, and they're definitely not bringing anything new to the table. And their second album is littered with quite a collection of decidedly average songs.

trollbutterfly 05-May-12 12:33 PM

Right, whatever you say mate. You say that but I'd advise you to revisit your implications in the previous comment again .I don't even like Madonna, but that shit... Crazy, deaf Gaga stan... the lot of you are unbelievably insane.

trollbutterfly 05-May-12 12:28 PM

Because they're on totally opposite ends of the music spectrum, that's why. You'd have to be deaf to compare the two like you did.

digitalbroadcastmk7 05-May-12 12:19 PM

also, I can't think of a bad song they've done. all of their songs are good as far as I can tell.

digitalbroadcastmk7 05-May-12 12:18 PM

one difference : all of these guys are extremely good at what they do. all of them are amazing musicians in their own right. and they're more than the sum of their parts.
