Antipodean microphone manufacturer RODE was displaying the mother of all shotgun mics at Messe- their new NTG8. International Sales Manager Benedict Sweeney almost caused a security alert when he got it out of the display case and started waving it around and pointing it at folks... I was kinda expecting a SWAT team to take us down while we were filming ;-]

True shotgun mics are pretty specialist tools; they're not going to appeal to the mass market, and although it's a niche area, they're going up against some pretty stiff competition from some well-established models, so it'll be interesting to see how it fares, but RODE being RODE, I'm assuming it'll hold it's own and probably give them a bit of a kicking on price, too.
