The Sonic State Custom Taylor Guitar Preview

Back in January, the Sonic State team descended on Anaheim for the NAMM Show. As many people will probably know, the show is heaven on earth for guitarists, drummers, bass players, DJs, keyboard players, synth collectors... the list goes on, forever.

One of the first manufacturers we checked out was Taylor, mainly because they always have some tintilating to show off, and also because they have a whole room full of expensive guitars to play on.

After chatting guitars with the guys at Taylor, and filming some of their new products, we were offered our very own custom Sonic State Taylor solidbody electric guitar. We used the online configurator to build our perfect electric guitar, and this is the spec we went for:

  • Double cutaway 'classic' shape body
  • Three mini HD humbuckers
  • Tremolo bridge
  • Jewelscent orange body
  • Chrome hardware
  • 22 fret rosewood neck
  • Mini abalone fret markers
The orange and black might not be to everybody's tastes, but it was certainly to Rich's tastes, who never grasped the concept of subtlety (hence his giant diamond white Gretsch 5120 with chrome hardware).

The guitar has now been shipped and we will be reviewing it as soon as it comes through the door, so stay tuned! It will also take residence as our test guitar for gear reviews of pedals, amplifiers, and accessories.
