Greek Bouzouki For Kontakt

Impact Soundworks releases Plectra Series 1: 8-string Acoustic Bouzouki      30/05/12
Impact Soundworks has released Plectra Series 1: 8-string Acoustic Bouzouki, which they describe as an exquisite sampled Greek instrument and the first in a new series of picked and plucked stringed instruments from around the world. This sample library, designed by Dimitris Plagiannis, is the tenth collection in the Impact Soundworks catalog of Kontakt instruments.
Plectra Series 1 features a deeply-sampled 8-string acoustic bouzouki, an instrument that has been a mainstay of Greek music for thousands of years. Impact Soundworks tells us that this particular bouzouki was crafted by Antonis "Larisseos" Theodorou, one of the most well-respected Greek luthiers, and it possesses a deep, warm and rich tone captured in painstaking detail.
Impact Soundworks, a joint venture between composers Andrew Aversa and Wilbert Roget, II, was founded in 2007 with the goal of creating innovative, affordable and unique sample libraries designed with composers in mind.
"This product has been a labor of love for me. I wanted to capture the unique sound of the bouzouki and make it a truly playable virtual instrument," said Plagiannis, designer of the library. "Anybody can easily load and play the library with no previous knowledge of the bouzouki, and for those that want to delve further, our scripting allows for very deep customization."
Impact Soundworks says that Plectra Series 1features all crucial articulations and techniques such as tremolo, hammer-ons and pull-offs, slides, chord strums, multiple dynamics and strokes, all edited, programmed and scripted for the Kontakt sampler format. "We're very proud to have this library as the first entry into our new Plectra Series," said Aversa. "As with our Sitar and Koto Nation libraries, we're always looking to release lesser-known instruments sampled with as much depth as any Western sampled instrument."
