This has to go down as one of the coolest stories in rock and roll history; Randall Smith explains how tinkering around with a Fender Princeton led to the first Mesa Boogie.

Carlos Santana was apparently so taken aback by the modded amplifier that he played on it for hours and said "shoot man, that thing really boogies..." hence the name.
