It Looks Like The Catalinbread Echorec is Ready

It looks like the prototypes are through for the much anticipated Catalinbread Echorec, which heightens expectations that we might see a release date before Christmas 2012, although the company could hold the release date back until the Winter NAMM show in January.

The company had already posted online a graphic of what they thought the Catalinbread Echorec would look like, but the new picture shows the product in the flesh.

The Echorec is designed to be an accurate homage to the Binson Echorec, which was an early echo machine used by the likes of Syd Barrett, David Gilmour and Jimmy Page.

If you're looking for vintage echo tone in a slightly more reliable and a much cheaper (and smaller) package, then this could be it. The 12-way selector switch on the Catalinbread Echorec will allow you to choose between a range of playback head combinations, which is a great touch.

Ultimately, with the amount of attention this pedal has attracted, it will live or die by how accurately it can recreate the tones of the Binson, which created a delay using magnets rather than using a tape loop.

But the wise money is on Catalinbread to get it spot on, as they usually do, and this looks like it could be one of their most popular pedals to date.

We'll have more updates as we get them.
