Tom Morello says there are no plans for new Rage material // Some rights reserved // David Shankbone |
Bad news Rage fans. Tom Morello says that there are no plans for a new Rage Against The Machine album, the band apparently has nothing planned after they release the commemorative 20th anniversary edition of their self-titled album.
Although, as we have grown to learn, when a musician says that a band has no plans to do something, it doesn't necessarily mean they won't go right ahead and do it anyway.
Tom Morello told Billboard that Rage Against The Machine have not made any plans for next year, and justified the re-release of the band's first album by saying that it set in motion the career of the band, who he says are the most popular political band in the world:
"We're able to take pride in the fact that in the history of rock music there has never been a more popular band with as radical politics as Rage Against the Machine, nor has there been a band with more radical politics than Rage Against the Machine that has been as popular.
"That is the lasting testament to the first shot fired by this album and how it continues to resonate with rebels around the world."
This Christmas will mark three years since Rage Against The Machine reached number one in the UK charts with 'Killing In The Name'. The movement was set up independently on Facebook as a means of blocking that year's X Factor winner, Joe McElderry, of getting the number one spot, with proceeds going to homeless charity, Shelter.
According to Pop Bitch, McElderry was recently spotted on a train in the UK using a laptop to log onto the website of his mentor on the show, Cheryl Cole, his desktop background was said by one witness to be a press shot of himself.
