Not a huge studio disaster but a lesson for newbies using old gear. 14 years ago I took a project into a studio with a bunch of midi tracks. One track I had recorded using a Korg Poly 800 that seemed to be screwing up the timing of the whole project. Turns out the joystick controller had a dirty pot that was generating loads of random control change messages in the track. Took us two hours at the going rate to figure it out. I now routinely inspect all midi files when using 25-30 year old controllers.
