New 3 Slot PCI Expansion Chassis

Magma offers a solution for using legacy PCI cards with new computers and laptops      03/01/13

PE3R - A Classic 3 Slot PCI Expansion Chassis from Magma on Vimeo.

Magma says that they are introducing one of the most compact and versatile expansion chassis on the market today for connecting legacy PCI cards to new computers. Although new computers no longer provide legacy PCI slots, many computer installations rely on legacy technologies to operate. PE3R addresses this problem with (3) high-speed PCI slots that can be connected to practically any computer in any environment.

PE3R attaches to the computer through a PCIe host card or an ExpressCard for laptops. Legacy PCI and PCMCIA connections are available too. The PCI signals are passed over a cable to rack-mountable chassis containing three high-bandwidth PCI slots. All cards installed in expansion chassis are transparently available to the host system and operate at 64-bit PCI speed.

I love that Rich Hilton calls these the "Magma boxes of air" on SonicTalk. ;)

Magma has traditional charged so much for their boxes that it's just as cost effective to buy a dedicated PC that already has the slots.
