Propellerhead Software and UK distributor Sound Technology Ltd have announced the immediate shipping of Reason 7 Education, with London-based Alchemea college amongst the first to upgrade and install. Alchemea is one of the world's leading international audio schools and upgraded its entire suite to Reason 7 on the day of its release.

Mike Sinnott of Alchemea commented, "We are thrilled to be the first college to take delivery of Reason 7. Not only does Reason provide us with a great set of teaching tools, it also makes sure we are good to our word when we say that our students will learn using the most exciting and up to date studio equipment."

Here's what Sound Technology has to say...

Reason's renowned music-centric design focuses around a virtual rack of software instruments, effects and processors connected to a world-class mixing console.  Version 7 provides a host of powerful new features and workflow improvements, including busses and parallel channels in the mixer, automatic audio slicing and quantize, the ability to integrate external MIDI instruments into the Reason rack, a visual EQ and much more. Maintaining its unique studio-realistic design, version 7 enhances further the appeal of the software for music technology education.

In the classroom, Reason has many distinct advantages over other music software programs, allowing students to focus on music creation and production, not system maintenance and software incompatibilities. Reason's studio simulation metaphor allows students to configure (and reconfigure) a complete sound studio, selecting and wiring audio processors and generators while the large format console model provides a rare chance for students to prep for work in large, professional studios.  Reason also provides a complete set of effects including mastering tools, so students can practice difficult setups like multi-band and parallel compression and mid/side processing.

From an administration perspective, simply connect the Propellerhead Ignition Key to the USB port on a server or a computer on your network and the clever multi-license system allows students to use Reason on any computer on the network until the license limit is reached.  If you already have previous educational versions of Reason you are eligible for our upgrade license packs.
