NAMM 2014: Seymour Duncan Jason Becker Humbucker - The Story Of Its Development (Video)

PLUS: New pedals and pickups for 2014 from Seymour Duncan   24-Jan-14

    MP4 6:46 mins

Seymour Duncan have released three new pickups and two new effects pedals in time for the 2014 NAMM show, and we caught up with Scott Marceau who talked us through each of them.

First up is the new Seymour Duncan Jason Becker signature humbucker, based on original blueprints from when the company were working with Becker early in his career to help him develop his signature tone.

After Becker's ilness sadly rendered him unable to play the guitar, the company have finished the development of the signature model with the help of Michael Lee Firkins, who tested the pickups with Jason Becker listening and giving notes on what he wanted changed.

As usual with Jason Becker, it's a tale of how one man refuses to let ALS disease take away his talent for music and his ear for tone, and an inspiring story for every musician out there.

To hear the full story on this pickup's development, as well as the scoop on the new set of Black Winters, and two new pedals - the Vapor Trail delay and the Dirty Deed distortion - watch the video above.
