The Alesis DM-4 has long been a mainstay for touring acts to control the pads or triggers to MIDI for live drummers as well as in the studio. The new Alesis SampleRack now adds SD Card storage to allow you to include sample playback to the system as well as the included 200+ drum voices. It also has a pretty compelling price at $199
Addtionally the new Alesis Sample Pad Pro has 8 pads (6 large and 2 edge) with blue bling LED surrounds, Kick and Hihat pedal inputs. Again, in addition to the 200+ drum sounds on board, it has an SD card for sample storage - it comes with a 32GB card stuffed with pro samples.
Both units have stereo out, although it would have been good to see another pair - most live situations work best with a Kick, Snare and stereo mix out for ideal separation. Still the price is also pretty attractive at $299.
Yes, in standalone - eventually
