Warp records mainstay Plaid have shared their new track Tether, accompanied by an interactive web application designed by Jono Brandel. The track is accompanied by a series of graphic shapes that gradually evolve as the music progresses.
You start the music by clicking, and after a few clicks the track starts properly... Then you can click and hold to "pause" or "warp" the track I guess, and click and drag to do filtering sort of effects. The visuals get pretty intense after a while and it can be fun to play with.
Lots of bands seem to be doing this sort of thing recently, first it was Bjork's Biophilia App, and then Radioheads Polyfauna. Is this sort of interactive accompaniment worthwhile or just a marketing ploy? Find the App here and let us know your thoughts!
