Brazilian Street Guitarist Sounds EXACTLY Like Mark Knopfler

He's quite honestly better at being Mark Knopfler than Mark Knopfler is   11-Jul-14

Writing about guitars, guitarists, and almost everything to do with guitars, I have seen way more YouTube cover videos than I ever really needed to see during my time on this earth.

But I think this video might just top every single one of them, and it pulls on the heart-strings in so many ways.

First of all, listen to around the first 45 seconds with your eyes CLOSED, I wish I could go back in time and do that again.

The Brazilian guitarist, busking in Sao Paulo during the World Cup, not only absolutely nails Mark Knopfler's playing style and guitar tone in this cover of 'Sultans of Swing', but also sounds almost identical to Mark vocally at certain points.

Consider that this is a Portuguese-speaking Brazilian guy, it's impressive, with probably hours of practice to nail the inflections (you can still hear a Portuguese twang on the letter 'R').

Secondly, keep an eye on the gentleman in the green t-shirt standing awkwardly in shot for much of the video. He will melt your heart if you watch the whole thing.

He finds his wallet around 4 minutes into the video and then gives the guitarist some money, but then he sticks around.

The reason? The guy wants to buy the guitarist's CD! This becomes apparent in a beautiful moment at the end of the video.

Other beautiful things to watch out for: People flashing bills/notes at the guitarist while he's playing the scorching hot solos, and people in the background quite literally laughing in reaction to how good he is.

I had the same reaction during the second solo, I was so impressed I didn't know what to do other than laugh. No idea why! He's just so brilliant.

Brazil might not have won the World Cup, but this guy has just won my eternal admiration.
