We saw the Lightning-connected Rode iXY announced earlier this week and now Blue Microphones has announced the availability of Mikey Digital with Lightning connection, a premium stereo microphone for recording on iPhone and iPad. They believe that with Mikey Digital it has never been easier to capture pristine audio on your iOS device using any popular audio or video application. Mikey Digital features twin, custom-tuned condenser microphones with discrete mic pre-amplification and CD-quality A/D conversion, along with built-in gain control.

"Whether you're recording a demo track or capturing a live show, Mikey Digital delivers the rich, detailed audio that Blue is known for," said John Maier, CEO of Blue Microphones. "From the back row of a lecture hall to the front row at a rock concert, Mikey Digital protects your recordings from unwanted distortion and delivers unparalleled 16 bit, 44.1 kHz stereo audio."

Here's more details in Blue Microphones own words...

One of the most common challenges when recording on mobile devices is having audio levels too quiet or too loud; either way a recording can be ruined. With Auto Level Sensing technology and multiple gain settings, Mikey Digital protects your recordings from distortion, handling extremely loud audio levels up to 130dB. Users can enable Mikey Digital to intelligently adjust to fluctuating volume levels or manually set low sensitivity for loud sources and high sensitivity for much quieter sources. Mikey Digital is equipped with an LED clipping indicator that flashes whenever volume levels are producing distortion, providing immediate feedback to adjust sensitivity for best recording results. Mikey Digital also rotates 230 degrees for optimal positioning. With the reversible Lightning connection, you can capture sound from any direction and align with the front- or rear- facing camera.

Mikey Digital includes a high-performance 3.5mm stereo input for recording external sources like a lavalier mic, an instrument such as guitar or bass, or line-level signals like a DJ mixer or MP3 player.  Whether recording through the premium capsules or multi-source input jack, Mikey Digital records the highest fidelity possible on the iOS platform.

Mikey Digital also features a USB pass-thru connection for charging your device while in-use, for continuous recording without draining battery life.

Pricing and Availability:
Mikey Digital, MSRP $99.99, is available at Amazon.com and Sweetwater Sound and coming soon to Best Buy (Canada), Future Shop (Canada), Maplins (UK) and other authorized Blue retailers worldwide.
