Go Snowboarding On A Martin Guitar

Check out the new Burton Easy Livin snowboard   24-Oct-14

This fall, Burton Snowboards, Martin Guitar and Burton Pro Snowboarder Danny Davis have come together to collaborate on the new winter 2015 Easy Livin snowboard that blends Danny's love of snowboarding and music. Now available in select stores worldwide, the new limited edition Easy Livin snowboard promises to be a collector's item for snowboarders and guitar players the world over.

To create the snowboard's iconic design, Danny Davis, who is also an Ambassador for Martin Guitar, took a trip to C.F. Martin & Co. in Nazareth, Pennsylvania to design a custom guitar. Danny worked with the masters at Martin to choose the guitar's wood, fretboard and bridge. One of the most distinct features of Danny's guitar is the custom Mother Of Pearl inlays on the fretboard that symbolize things that are important to him, like fishing, camping, his dogs, peace and his long-time sponsor, Burton Snowboards. Once the guitar was built, Burton's design team photographed the actual guitar for the base graphic of the Easy Livin snowboard, which showcases the Martin fretboard and the legendary headstock, strings and body. The top of Danny's board features a guitar-shaped wood inlay that replicates the wood on the back of Danny's Martin. Finally, two Mother Of Pearl foil inlays on the top of the snowboard are inspired by the inlays on Danny's guitar fretboard.

"The Burton Easy Livin x Martin Guitar snowboard has become my favorite board that I've ever ridden," says Danny Davis. "Not only does the board bring back memories from winning X Games and going to the Olympics last season, it also sparked one of the coolest collaborations between myself and two of my favorite brands – Burton Snowboards and Martin Guitar. Plus, you're riding a guitar, which is pretty cool."

Burton says that, on the technical side of things, the Easy Livin snowboard features three different shapes, each tuned for perfect mountain harmony – on groomers, in powder or in the park. Riders can choose from a more blunted freestyle shape in the 152, a pointier freestyle design with the 158, or the stock and sturdy all-around feel of the 155. The Easy Livin offers a highly maneuverable, stable, and snappy experience for laying down fresh tracks.
