Two turntables and a microphone has been the standard setup for scratch DJs since the art form was born. To scratch more than one sound at a time traditional DJs have to change records or pick up the needle and move to different places in a record.

Now, a new app called Scratch Disc breaks this paradigm by rethinking the standard setup. It features 12 turntables spread out on the iOS screen, each with their own sound fragment that can be scratched in a much more "random access" manner. The benefit is that the performer gets a wider sound palette and can make performances that would be difficult or impossible with a standard DJ setup.

Kristin Graffagnino (aka DJ BlondieK), says "When designing this app the intent was not to realistically emulate a real turntable on a touch screen. Any attempt at that would fail because analog equipment like turntables will always be more responsive than their computer recreations. Scratch Disc instead provides a new way to perform the sounds of scratching a record."

Scratch disc features over 200 included sounds and the ability to import songs from the device's iTunes library. With an In-App-Purchase, users can also record their own voice and scratch it within a few seconds.

The app also supports the standards of Audiobus 2 and Inter-App Audio. These technologies enable other popular audio apps like Garage Band, Cubasis or Loopy to use Scratch Disc as an input for recording songs and performances.

Pricing and Availability:
Scratch Disc is available for free on the iOS App Store. It has a single In-App-Purchase for $3.99 that unlocks all 12 discs, extra sounds, recording and paste functionality.
