IK Multimedia has announced a major update to SampleTank 3 for Mac and PC. This is what they have to say:

The new 3.3 version turns SampleTank 3 into a great tool for beat and groove makers via its new plug-and-play compatibility with iRig® Pads, IK's ultra-portable MIDI groove controller. Its new "Pad" interface lets musicians quickly organize SampleTank 3's 16 parts in a new matrix view quickly and efficiently for use with iRig Pads or any other 4x4 pad controller. In addition, users will now be able to enjoy broader MIDI support, streamlined loop management and more.

The latest version also comes with The Grid, the first add-on sound collection for SampleTank 3. A must have for beat makers and electronic music producers, it features 50 instruments and patterns that cover everything from hip-hop to dubstep to techno and beyond.

Grooves to go
The game changing feature included in the latest version of SampleTank 3 is its plug-and-play support for iRig Pads, IK's full-featured, ultra-portable MIDI pad controller for iOS, Mac and PC. A natural fit, iRig Pads' 16 fully customizable velocity sensitive backlit rubber pads provide users with a tactile "out-of-the-box" musical experience that streamlines the SampleTank 3 workflow. Now users can browse, select and play instruments, manipulate patterns, control SampleTank 3's "Global Play" functions and more without having to click a mouse.

SampleTank 3's new "Pad" interface provides a seamless integration with iRig Pads and other pad-based MIDI controllers, allowing for a new highly creative hands-on way to control its 16 parts. When using this interface, each individual SampleTank 3 part can be mirrored on a pad. Users can launch samples, loops and patterns while controlling other essential parameters like quantization, volume and note transposition - everything is integrated seamlessly for an experience that's both powerful and easy to use.

Get on the Grid

The reason SampleTank has remained a staple in top-tier music studios around the world is due to the depth of its sound and instrument library. The latest version lets users go further then ever before thanks to The Grid, the first add-on sound collection for SampleTank 3. Created with iRig Pads in mind, it lets beatmakers and electronic music producers get creative with 50 instruments and 50 patterns in two categories: DRUMS and LOOPS & HITS. Both contain one-shots, loops and other tools designed to help producers, performers and other musicians create beats in every genre from EDM to dubstep, house to techno, hip-hop to electro and beyond.

iRig Pads users can register their controller to receive The Grid at no cost, while others can get the new sounds via the IK online store.

Next level loops

Loops are a big part of the SampleTank 3 experience. The latest version improves loop organization and management by listing individual loops in the Pattern tab. This lets users locate specific loops quicker, which allows for streamlined composition while in the studio..
