Now thats something cool - funded by Korg and the Red Bull Music Academy, this was installed outside the PARCO fashion building in Shibuya, Japan in Movember last year.
Created by Daito Manabe and Rhizomatics, it looks like a real wheeze - though you would pray that it didn't rain..
It is a social experiment, embodying the Academy ethos of encouraging creative collaboration. The below schematics help to explain how it was constructed. The Synthesizer is a large format workstation that allows for interaction: There is a step sequencer drum machine with four sound sets, and a keyboard with an arpeggiator and other functions, as well as an X-Y effects unit. The large format synthesizer controls are based on KORG's MS10/20 classic synthesizers, with MPC-style touch-sensitive trigger pads.
Montage M's 1998 forebear had sampling, FM & VA!
