Back in February we visited the awesome synth studio in Utrect Sonar Traffic, if you haven't checked out our video with Allert Aalders then it is a must see.

This weekend the the owners of Sonar Traffic organised a special event in Kytopia. Modulation was an evening of electronic music focussed on the raw materials of sound. Allowing for rhythm, harmony and melody to interact under the direct influence of human beings.

There were three performances all of which were streamed onto the world wide web live.

First up was Jan Willem who presented and explained his sampleslicer module which you can read more about here

Secondly Allert Aalders performed a largely improvised set on his eurorack system. Looking to make chords from noise, and trying to get an as organic sound as possible from electronics.

And finally which you can see at the top of this page is Ben Spaander's performance on his Roland System 700 modular "Herman". Only around 40 of these synths remain living and in the wild.

Sit back relax and listen to some great performances. You may well have to ignore a little bit of dutch if you cant understand it!
