Sonic Faction has announced Polytek, a new Max for Live instrument that they say fuses rhythm and melody to generate enigmatic patterns. They tell us that it combines step sequencing with vocoder and multiband gate processing which results in deep tech chord progressions, ambient dub soundscapes and gritty robotic polyrhythms.

A spokesperson had this to say, "Polytek's layout allows for intuitive rhythmic and melodic step sequencing. Add to that sound shaping capabilities from filters, vocoders to choppy gates to create an impressive modern sound. The instrument's Routing Matrix makes it easy to select Analog or Sampler as a sound source and then process it through either a Vocoder or Multiband frequency-based gating system. Aspects of the device have been color-coded so you know exactly where you are and what you're controlling.

Polytek comes with an array of FX for big spacious reverbs, saturation, delays, auto pan, and chorus. The device is also equipped with a note resonator and physical modeling engine to add extra timbre harmonics and futuristic melodic textures to the groove. Polytek's internal Preset system allows for easy saving of rhythmic, melodic and sound settings as well as recalling entire patterns on the fly."

Polytek Key Features include:

  • Built-in Rhythmic & Melodic Step Sequencers
  • Analog & Sample-based Sound Sources
  • Vocoder and Multiband-Gate Processing
  • Physical Modeling Engine for Dynamic Resonance
  • Internal Presets for fast Save and Recall

Polytek requires Live 9 Suite and Max for Live 7.
