The Arturia Beatstep Pro - it's been a tantalising wait since we first saw it at the shows earlier this year. With three Sequencers - two Gate CV and one with 8 analog triggers, it's the modular/analogue jammers dream - at least that what it seems.

With full MIDI io for all channels as well as a controller mode with CC or Mackie HUI/Control it will interface with your DAW as well as external MIDI gear via the minijack to MIDI adapters (included).

As is the Din Sync - with in and out you can set this to pulse if you prefer for syncing in other ways.

We also had a great presentation from Alex at Source Distribution, so between that and this review, you should have all you need for information.

We had only a couple of criticisms - one, you can't tweak the CV scaling to accommodate less accurate analog synths - which is not an uncommon issue, and the Control Mode settings are not stored with the Patterns or Projects.

Having said that though, we think the BeatStep Pro is very reasonably priced - especially when you consider all of the functionality.

If you need step sequencing then this should be a very serious contender for your cash

Available now priced at £189 / $249 Street
