Murmurings have increased to fever pitch since this weekend's Ableton Conference in Berlin that Push 2 and Ableton Live 9.5 are about to arrive. And thats just whats happened. Today sees Ableton unveil Push 2 with a glorious looking larger RGB LCD, new buttons and pads as well as major new features supported with the release of Live 9.5.

One of the first things you might want to know is that the new Push 2 is no longer engineered by Akai as with the original Push. Push 2 is a pure Ableton from start to finish which means they have total control of the Push experience. Whats more, Push 2 is available from now priced at £499, $799, €699 - in fact Ableton are offering a 30% buyback offer on your 'old' Push hardware, with the traded in hardware being given to education.

The other major difference is that Push 23 is designed to take advantage of the pile of new features introduced in Ableton Live 9.5, we don't yet know what of these new features will be directly supported with your original Push, but hope to have more information as soon as we get it. But one thing that is clear is the new integration with the new Simpler instrument which includes realtime sample slicing and pad assignment.

Judging from the videos accompanying this release, the realtime LCD interaction with the control and hardware is very fluid and will undoubtedly be a serious workflow enhancement.
