Episode 1 available now in Youtube, or download the series.
Our Top Twenty Greatest Synths series was a labour of love back when we first published. Producer Simon Power worked his socks of to bring us the full 9 episodes. After a thorough excavation of our archives, we've just begun releasing them to Youtube one a week.
The humorous chart rundown was the result of a poll we ran back in 2007, and was put together with a series of interviews, all under the watchful eye of Professor Marc Norris.
So we just uploaded that episode (Episode 1) to our Youtube Channel so you can enjoy them once again. We will be uploading one a week for the next 8 weeks (or so).
If you can't wait, we've also made the full series available as a digital download, at the eminently reasonable price of $9.99 for the full series.
So if you can't wait and want to support the site, go for it.
We just discovered that samples from Episode 1 made their way into a rather brilliant release from Randomer titled Synth Geek
- Professor Marc Norris's deadpan delivery of such classic lines as "Welcome to my state of the art sonic laboratory" and "You've caught me listening to some low frequency oscillators" clearly proved to be extremely tempting. We're honoured!
Part 1 on cloned synths, will they surpass the originals?
