Tracktion Offers T5 DAW For Free

Tracktion Corporation tells us that they are once again breaking with typical retail paradigms by offering their T5 DAW software completely free to the public. They say that now anyone can download this powerful, critically acclaimed multi-track recording and editing software at no cost or further obligation. Here's the details in their own words...

The progressive Seattle-based company has been providing its popular T4 FREE software for the last year giving thousands of musicians access to the advanced recording platform for Mac, PC and LINUX operating systems. With the release of T5 FREE, a more powerful version of the DAW adds many new features and provides in-app access to the MARKETPLACE retail portal. This allows users to search, purchase and download plugins as well as virtual instruments to add creative assets at any time.

Upon T5's initial release in 2014, when it sold for $60, Sound on Sound Magazine's John Walden summed up the DAW software by saying, "I think the real positives are three-fold: the very clear and easy-to-learn user interface, the range of features for squeezing the maximum performance out of any computer hardware and the [now free] price.

In addition to T5 FREE, Tracktion's T6 DAW software is now available free of charge with select Behringer and Mackie brand digital hardware purchases. T6 brings an even more extensive feature list than T5 FREE and allows an upgrade path to Tracktion's latest and most powerful recording software, the T7 DAW.
