In our full review of the Roland System-8, there was a lot of ground to cover.  System-8 synth engine, the Plug-Outs, Performance mode and sequencer.

The flagship AIRA polysynth  does have its flaws - in the review, we pointed out the issues with the lack of after touch, inability to de-couple the sequencer from the synth engine, no aftertouch and the single LFO. However, we felt that these shortcomings did not outweigh the fact that as a cohesive instrument it really does work well.

The unit is about to leave the building, we've had it for ages. So before it went, we wanted to give some more insight into the effects - three engines - or six if you are in performance mode - you get one set per split.

Nick takes us through the available algorithms and sees how far they can be pushed.

Roland System-8 Poly synth is available now.
