I don't know how popular the United States Public Broadasting Series (PBS) "Cosmos" was in Britain, but don't forget Vangelis had some music spots, i.e., "Heaven and Hell", that were very signature, although he didn't compose specifically for the series

INSTEAD of IVORY and Muse Receptor 2 ......... give this a try. More affordable OPENLABS SOUNDSLATE one rackspace receotpr type thing but you can to recording etc....Muse tends to have problems running certain applications. YOu might want to consider NATIVE INSTRUMENTS new ipiano called ALICIA'S KEYS..... Alicia Keys recorded her new album on this soft piano and she has a REAL grand in her studio and liked this better........... give it a listen chaps.

What was Dave's Example done on again? Was that the Imposcar? If so I think I need to buy the Imposcar. Loved the sound he did.. Would live to know actually what settings he used. I missed the name of the instrument?

Thank you to those who gave advice with my live Ivory rig.

I have been in contact with both Muse and Synthogy, and was convinved by both that the new standard Receptor 2, 2.6GHZ dual core with 4G of RAM, will cut it. So I have purchased one. I will let everyone know how it goes.

Cheers

MTV was going away from music as far back as the late 90's.

My opinion of MTV dropped sharply when somehow PJ's Jeremy beat PG's Digging in the Dirt for video of the year.

Thanks for the show. Have to concur with Nick, I like what Eddie Vangelis does with the movie thing (although he is an egomaniac, but that's part of the charm). Those synths are the iconic sounds of my childhood. Those are the types of epic sounds that turned me on to synth in the first place. BTW, I believe Dave Spears was ussing Imposcar II for his demo.

Thanks again for such a great podcast. I think Blade Runner soundtrack is one of the most visionary and signature soundscapes ever composed and performed for a film, and it fits perfectly into its (even today) futuristic atmosphere, concept and wonderful art design. By the way, I'm glad you are interested and said those things about open source software (OS and music apps). I sent a message (a month ago) through the site's contact form related to open source music software, and a proposal about. Kindest regards.
