I wonder how long it'll be before someone figures a way to take four Monotrons and make a 4-note poly version and add midi or usb control?

I think that Korg should have added a usb/midi control to it. It would have turned the wee one into a nice little hard synth easy to carry on the computer side, convenient to tweak in a live set. Perhaps I am just dreaming...

I think the reason Korg did not add midi or usb ( other than cost ) Is that the VCO isn't terribly stable . So to avoid exposing that flaw ...don't add precise control ?

That said I would love to see 2-3 of these moded with midi not as a poly but as a 2-3 OSC mono synth with 2 filters 2 lfo's . I'll deal with tuning issues ... thats the fun of a VCO anyway

Good to see people getting electronically creative with their toys. that being said, roland and korg have become a bit of a joke (especially korg)...they used to be pioneers in their fields.

Roland now releases GAYA which is an sh-32 rehash (soundwise).

I hope to see better products from these companies.

I don't think they wanted to make anything more than a stocking stuffer/effect pedal/toy with this. Personally I think they are testing the market or manufacturing floor for larger analogue projects. Notice they did the same thing with the chaoscillator. Release a bite sized version, only to come out with a full version a year later.

None of the guys above get it. Gor 59.99$ you get a fun little toy and a full on MS20 VCF filter + LFO. You cannot get a filter box with that quality in that price range anywhere, at all... period.

Has there been any explanation yet on how this can claim to have the original MS10 filter, which required a split +/- 15V supply, while running at only 3V from two AAA cells? Even if they follow that circuit topology, I can't imagine it sounding the same after rebiasing and substituting a modern low-voltage op-amp for the 741 used in the original circuit...

Anyone who`s calling monotron a "toy" is a damn fool. o.k. it`s not that huge pro-synth but it`s not made for it i suppose. The reason why you shouldn`t call it a toy is the fact that it`s REAL anlog not virtuall as all his currently available big brothers. A nice tool for dj`s, elctro and techno "compact" live performers (especially those who just operate on laptops - for money, weight and knowledge-leck reasons) and circuit-benders - you schould have a look inside ;-)
