This is an underwhelming release. Why now multi screen support ?.
Why - Like Logic and others - no ability to edit/view more than one clip at the same time ? 26-Oct-12 08:40 AM Sam Mallery Said... Cool idea about beat boxing and hummimg melodies into the MIDI editor. Hadn't heard anyone suggest that yet. 26-Oct-12 09:18 AM Lagrange Audio Said... I am bit disappointed about the lack of dual monitor support. But the Audio - Midi, Max4Live (in suite), clip automation and all the packs included makes for a compelling package especially if you are a Live 8 (standard) owner. For little money you can upgrade to Suite now and get Live 9 Suite for free when its released. That's what I have just done and I am pretty happy with that. That sucks for existing Suite owners so I hope they look after those guys. 26-Oct-12 12:13 PM Lagrange Audio Said... Also noted the congratulatory tweet from Bitwig too ;) 26-Oct-12 12:16 PM montychristo86 Said...
I know it doesn't have some features of some of the other DAWs, but Live is anything but a traditional DAW. The fact that it converts Audio to MIDI right out the box is a game changer. Plus, Push is a godsend when it comes to controlling Live.
I would say this release is underwhelming at all. Live has always been simple and intuitive, and that is what this release expands on. In fact, if you buy Suite 9, that by itself could replace your entire plugin collection! 26-Oct-12 01:46 PM CR78 Said...
@Dan
Live can have multiscreen support; Max device.
Look into it. ;) 26-Oct-12 02:21 PM Velocipede Said... Audio to midi looks nice if it is as well implemented as most Live features. Still no multi-channel audio support? 26-Oct-12 05:17 PM Adam Said...
This looks more like Live 8.5. We really want new toys, not just fixing the last version. After such a long wait I am disappointed. What about all those smart requests for improvements from the forums. I also just bought MAX for live this summer. Hope Max users get a break on the upgrade.
P.S. Is the new website supposed to be a joke? 26-Oct-12 10:38 PM loneraver Said... Where is the 64 bit version? Can this version finally do SYSEX dumps? 27-Oct-12 12:46 PM Benedict Said... Whats the hulabaloo about multi-screen support? I've been using Ableton with multiple screens for years, one for the Live window and one for plug-in GUIs. Dur 27-Oct-12 05:04 PM Lagrange Audio Said... @Benedict, agreed we can put plugins on multiple screens. What we are talking about here is putting Session and Arrangement views on two separate monitors which is not possible currently. 28-Oct-12 08:55 PM Lagrange Audio Said... @Benedict, agreed we can put plugins on multiple screens.
