Happy Birthday Midi. I don't know what I could of done without you. One of the greatest break thru inventions for keyboard musicians since the Moog. Midi was a life changer for me. It changed the way I write, compose and play music. It is hard to believe that it has been 30 years and we still use midi. I wonder why the manufactures never came up with a better system? Maybe it is the old saying "If it works, don't try to fix it". Anyway midi did change my life. Thanks Dave & Ikutaro.

@sonicstate: the link is www.midi.org/midi30 in lowercase... your link doesn't work :)

And congrats to MIDI, the fact that there's no real competition until now shows it's brilliance in design (well, apart from the 7bit resolution problem) and felxibility...

Happy Birthday Midi! I luvs u! First Midi Experience: CakeWalk for Win 3.1 with Parallel Port Midi Note1+ interface. God, that interface was pure metal and could kill a gopher if swung correctly. Midi - one of the greatest and long lasting tech.

Happy Birthday MIDI!!

I can't even imagine what life would be like without you.

You're the bridge that lets most everyone (instruments/computers/people) be heard, equally

Happy Birthday MIDI

Wow, that makes me feel old. I remember the first demos I had of MIDI gear at local stores knowing I was witnessing a revolution. The big difference between then and now....the computers and software have become insanely cheap and powerful. Back in the 80s just buying a PC, MIDI interface and sequencing software could set you back $2000. Today I can just use an iPhone running a $10 app.
