Oh my god. My condolences. There must be a bunch of programmers crying out there today.

Is Gibson trying to go for a world record? Number of sequencers and DAWs acqui-murdered?

What a shame. Sonar was my DAW of choice for a decade until they royally screwed it up with X1 & X2. I know this doesn't mean they are technically going out of business but they certainly have lost their mojo over the last couple years. Going to Gibson seems like the nails in the coffin.

Agreed. Every time Gibson acquires a brand, they seem to kill it. Remember Oberheim??? There are many brands they've killed. Too bad.

Not so quick with the prognostications of doom, folks. The legendary Craig Anderton went to work at Gibson recently and he's a solid Sonar supporter. There could be a positive connection here.

Seems like the only question left is do I buy my new DAW during the American Thanksgiving sales or wait for Canadian Boxing Day sales?

so sad. not sure why roland bought cakewalk in the first place if they didn't want to hold on to it.

Why did I see this coming? As much as I love Roland hardware, I use them exclusively with Mac. Don't like the Yamaha-Steinberg collaboration. Would want my hardware to work with and have all the features with any DAW.

I have sonar x1 and if this means the end of sonar then I will not buy x2 or x3 only to see it killed and no future advances. I have Gibson and epiphone guitars but prefer Burns if Gibson screws my sonar then I buy no more gibsons

Gibson's long history of screwing up companies it buys (hello, Oberheim) means this is not good news. Does that mean Roland will be divorcing itself from making Cakewalk focused hardware?
