If people would spend more time learning the guitar and not analyzing the equipment they would be much better off. A guitar/amp setup only sounds as good as the player.

I mean without people who were interested in learning about the equipment and analyzing it then the question arises as to who will build amplifiers with better or just unique qualities. If no one analyzed this stuff and broke it down for the general public most people would prolly just settle for sub par equipment or set ups. I know that my research into the workings of amplifiers and tube characteristics has made my tone/sound better. At some point even the greatest guitar player in the world would sound like shit if his/her amp was a complete piece of shit and sounded like stinky turds lol

in all respect who says this guy even plays guitar and is not just someone who enjoys learning and teaching about tube characteristics. Amped GUEST blogger kurt says "The purpose of this comparison is simply to provide guitar players with a frame of reference to help in finding the best current production 6L6GC for their needs. Also included in this comparison are direct substitutes for the 6L6GC including: KT66 and 5881."

Thank you for this test. I'm doing a series of articles about the Dual Rectifier response, how to modify it, and how to enjoy it stock. This was helpful.
