Really disappointing that they did not change the usb connector. Right now the dock is incapable of supporting a midi controller via usb. You have to externally power your controller, and plug a midi cable into it. NOT very practical... Especially considering how easy it would've been to change it. (I performed the usb-hub mod on my iO dock and it worked perfectly, but what a hassle)

I'm switching to the Focusrite dock for sure now.

Do we know if this one supports Sysex and NRPN's? The old one doesn't which makes it hard to use apps like Midi Designer Pro as control surfaces for older synths.

On the Alesis community I asked if the new iO Dock II supports sysex. They confirmed it will support sysex.

Like Joey said, this was their (last?) opportunity to fix the lack of USB host connector(s).

Not sure if they're keeping that one for NAMM2015 as the big feature of IO Dock 3 :/ (talk about future proof).

It seems it doesn't support iPad Air, does it?

If so, I will be VERY disappointed...

When he said it works with every available iPad, how did you process that?

In the specs:

"Works with iPad, iPad 2, iPad (3rd generation) and iPad (4th generation)"

iPad Air isn't there. :'-(
