i think that hardware sampling thing is starting to get real old.

just kiddin' :p

anyway, i'm way more excited by the linndrum II than by the 5000. sorry akai, you time's running out.

It's very nice - even as someone who has always hated the 'Akai way'. Akai have clearly been paying attention. I'm interested to see how they integrated the VA synth with the sampling engine - will it be fully integrated, or an MPC with VA bolted on as an afterthought? The sounds I have heard so far are uninspiring, there is much more to a good synth than just a resonant filter! The hard disk recording is a good choice though.

Not so good on the price. Akai have always been expensive, but $2500? For this you could buy a nice computer, controller, audio interface, and still have money left over for a pair of speakers. Nice if you really love the MPC philosophy, but it will not win them many new converts at this price.

I want one. The synth sounds really nice. Really fat filter. I can see using the random pad thing for having a few hats that sound sort of the same to give it more feel. I like the Q-links being tied to editing the effects. Scroling the cursor on the 2500 sucks for editing a compressor. I want to hear the effects. I hope they are better than the 2500's.

Anig... You are crazy if you think you can get a cpu rig and a comparable recording interface for 2500...

I actually think its under priced and am questioning whether its as high quality as one would want. the price is 250 more than the MV8800 which leaves me very skeptical

I am excited for the ldII as well. However, I don't get the impression the ldII will be much for midi sequencing entire songs and long sample times

re-re-repackage of the MPC concept. Boring. Linndrum 2 is a much more interesting and inspiring project, plus $1000 cheaper.

Hi. 1 - andre - "Linn drum 2" is diferent from MPC! 2 - I think a problem with "MPC 5000" it's synth ( it's for childrens :)!!! To be a good (not powerfull) missing: mod matrix, 3 lfo's and 1 envelop!!! ... maybe some more.

can i get rid of the synth and the corny free loops? ,if so you got a deal,if not linn drum 2(analog) is pretty juicy looking.these guys at the big music companies just don't get it,do they ,we want quality. i own and have owned, and will own mpc's probably for ever. i would love a modern mpc,i need to see more

I gave my MV8000 to my 5yr old son. I've had it since 2005, but havent used it in MONTHS. Tired of the long work flow. (after leaving the MPC2000xl)almost everyfunction has a waiting period or an extra button to push. I miss the fast work flow of the MPC, but I didnt want to purchase the MPC1000/2500/4000. I've already pre ordered my 5000 and I hope it doesnt dissapoint. usually I don't purchase without auditioning... so it looks like i'm playing craps. hope i win...lol

imagine the ease of use of the roger linn's MPC3000 with some up to date amenities.... thats the MPC5000.... Mike Hosker gave a shity demostration, but you have to look pass that and really look at the possibilities.... this thing is going to blow the roland MV away!

End 2007 I bought the mpc 2500, great stuff.

But the whole year I whas begging towards Akai / Akai import / My music store, is the mpc 5000 on its way. No one would tell me if the 5000 was comming, and not even 4 moths later there he was!

I think it's verry low from Akai that they wouldn't tell me or give me a hint, what does it matter if they sold an 2500 or a 5000.
