No FW??? I cant imagine that the audio demographic is gonna be too happy without firewire ports on a notebook thats even more expensive now.

so now a $2000 macbook pro is the entry level notebook for firewire compatible hardware???

yeah I cant help but think that this one is a bit of a donkey.

No firewire and only FW800 connector.

Plus it's just ugly. Sure the CNC aluminium ethic will please Jobs' fixation with clean lines, but it's at the expense of an immediate appeal.

I'm sure it will be nice to handle, but no FW on a machine costing that much is not good.

I suspect there will be a run on old school MBPros and MBs too.

I made a post on the general forum here two days before it came out to say that the MacBook no longer had Firewire.

I really don't think it's ugly or sucks on the design front (I'm starting to think that I'm the only person who doesn't), but the lack of Firewire on a £949 (and £1,149) computer really DOES suck.

Hopefully, in six months time when they get the usual speed bump revision, we'll see it get a Firewire port too, as I imagine the Apple Feedback site has been inundated with complaints already from what I've heard!

So instead of making the body from multiple parts- i.e. stamping the metal- they are CNC machining the entire casing, which takes more time, generates more scrap, and more wear on tooling. "Green"... ummm sure.
