Well who'd have guessed it? Fifty years! It hardly seems credible that the synthesizer has been in existence for so long, but it's true. And largely down to the work of one Robert Moog - and others of course, but they aren't celebrating 50 years in business quite yet. The good news is that Bob is still going strong and is often seen manning the stand at the trade shows, pressing the flesh and that. Although not all of the time - he has people to do that for him these days, and why on earth not? 50 years is a long time by any stretch. We caught up with him at this years NAMM for a chat. To commemorate the 50th anniversary, Moog Music Inc, realease the Voyager Anniversary Edition, a sexy black cased, blue-lit Voyager - which looks mighty fine I might add. This model will be made for this year only to commemorate Dr Bob's sterling work as an electronic musical instrument pioneer. For those of us with more modest budgets, we can enjoy the Bob Moog Anniversary Calender - tastefully filled with photos taken throughout the years of Mr Moog's illustrious career.
