Amped Review: Taylor T3 Semi Hollow Body Guitar

First thing that you notice is the case, a nice, fake croc, padded affair. Open it up and you get the full effect of the delicious top wood - quilted maple - looks like rippled sand fading to a dark tan. Body and neck are made of Sapele which looks a little like Mahogany.
The build is gorgeous throughout with Taylors T-Lock single bolt neck system and lovely chrome hardware with a chrome roller style bridge -also available is the T3/B with Bigsby Vibrato system - which makes it more Gretsch - like in appearance.
The neck has a slim precise feel with quite proud fretting, which gives you great precision and the desire to dig in to your playing.
Pickups are Taylors own custom HD humbuckers which can also be switched into single coil mode with the push-pull chrome capped knobs. Tone is also massively variable with some very authentic Tele type sounds, 335 and full-on smokey jazz too.
There really is a wide range of sounds at your disposal here, even a jazzy sound on the bridge pickup! But whats really great is that it still has its own voice - the Taylor T3 - which is something other multi-confriguration guitars fail at.

We really enjoyed this guitar, it oozes class and quality, a wide range of tones and a playable neck with good high fret access make it a flexible guitar. Great for warm jazz tones, biting blues or some wilder, semi-hollow feedback madness.
At £1800/$2600 its not a cheap option, but this is a quality guitar.
