In the world of handheld vocal mics, there's a certain model which has become in many ways the de facto mic for that purpose... and I'm sure there's at least an element of DPA taking a pop by naming their new vocal mic the d:facto ;-]
In fact, the d:facto™ II, to give it it's official moniker.
DPA have certainly established a pretty sound reputation for high-end recording microphones, and their more recent foray into lavalier mics has also been very well received, so they've no doubt got the chops to produce a great sounding mic. But what else does the d:facto bring to the table?
Well, turns out it DPA have gone to great lengths to make it as versatile as possible, as well as sounding excellent. The mic head features interchangeable capsules, so you can choose to have omni, cardiod or super-cardiod patterns, and it comes in a range of fittings to mate with pretty much every variety of wireless handled transmitters too. Clever stuff.
And it's just been awarded a MIPA (Musikmesse International Press Award) in the Live Microphone/IEM category too.
We were introduced to CEO Christian Poulsen who told us more about the d:facto II, and also showed us their tiny clip-on instrument mic the d:vote 4099.
