After a hectic time at DanceFair, I was feeling a little drained. Two days of hyper compressed EDM can do that to a person.

But while I was there, I kept hearing references to this wonderful place called Kytopia spoken of in hushed tones, ike a myth it floated in and out of peoples conversations, leaving me none the wiser.

I had arranged (with some help with my friends at Koma Elektronik) on Sunday night to visit a studio called Sonar Traffic. I had no idea that Sonar Traffic was part of Kytopia.

Kytopia is a studio complex and artist residency program in the heart of Utrect, started by Colin Benders aka Kyteman. Nestled in the building that used to be Tivoli, a classic venue that played host to many different artists in the 90s including; Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Shaman to name but a few.

Who better to show us round the building than the venue's old sound engineer Allert Aalders who manned the faders for 16 years! Who along with his partner Ben Spaanders has one of the best synthesizer collections I have ever seen. But this is not just the collection of some sordid fetishist, Sonar Traffic is a working studio where artists can come and have access to some of the rarest (limited edition Synton Syrinx!) and most interesting synthesizers on the planet.

Sit back and let Allert walk you through the building.
