While clearly not for everyone – unless you've $20k or so to blow on a speaker system, the Bösendorfer VC7 hi-end speaker system is an interesting slant on speaker design. Taking their 150 plus years design experience they’ve made the AC7 and VC7 speakers. The rulebook has been thrown out and rather than eliminating resonance (generally thought of as a BAD THING in speakers), they used it to advantage by creating large wooden sound panels. Containing two tweeters and four bass/mid drivers, they are available in various finishes. Searching the net for reviews, I found nothing but praise for these speakers - but at this price, you’d have to feel something special was on offer. One reviewer was even amazed when driving the VC7’s with a mere $1200 integrated amp and preamp, they still sounded pretty good. He even considered buying them – clearly writing about hi-fi is much better paid than I imagined.. (source: Gizmodo.com)
