Roland's new Designer Boutique the SE-02 is the result of a collaboration with Studio Electronics - they make some seriously good sounding analogue gear and the boffins at Roland, who together have somehow managed to cram a 3 VCO mono synth into the Boutique form.

Thats right, they are true analogue VCOs, VCAs and a 24dB low pass ladder filter - there is certainly inspiration from the Minimoog here, though not a carbon copy. Front panel controls are digital as you can store up to 128 user presets (there are 3 banks of read only patches), and there's a sequencer on board too - 16 steps, with parameter per step recording - though only 1 lane of automation per step.

In this video, we take a look at the form factor, the elements and a few sound examples. Full review to come - if you have any questions, leave em in the comments.

Available in September £509 UK
