But forget that lot, the new Zoom H4 is the one that really got us going. While the rest of the world is producing 2-track compact recorders, Zoom decided to give us a 4-track reocrder. Personally speaking, that’s the one that really floats my boat. Recording four tracks at a time really opens up the options, got a little jam session going on, no problem, need say two mics and a stereo mix (one I’m personally interested in). The H4 records to SD cards of up to 1GB and features a DSP for compression and limiting.
  • Dual function 4-track and stereo recording modes
  • Two built-in electret condenser microphones
  • XLR input with phantom powered
  • High-impedance input for guitar, bass and synth
  • Guitar effects equivalent to Zoom G2
  • DSP with compressor, limiter and mic modeling
  • Bundled with Cubase LE
  • Includes USB audio and mass-storage interfaces
  • Records on SD media cards (up to 1GB), 64MB card included
