Catalinbread tell us that their new Ottava Magus stompbox is a traditional octave fuzz with a not so traditional range of tones, expressive feel, and inspiring character.
They say that the pedal combines modern design philosophy with old school germanium for harmonically rich octave up tones, a full bodied low-end and an incredibly low noise floor – and it’s tiny too.
A company spokesperson had this to say, “Traditional octave pedals often have a problem with their ‘intensity’ knobs either cranked up or turned down completely - when you did crank them the gain isn't quite enough, when turned down the sound is not clean enough. The Ottava Magus on the other hand has a usable range throughout the intensity rotation. On both ends of the intensity range the sound is just a hair short of insanity and a spot dirtier than clean.
