Cakewalk have unveiled their latest version of DAW music production environment SONAR in the form of SONAR 8. As well as numerous workflow enhancements and Vista compatibility, there are a couple of new plugs and instruments. We caught up with Brandon Ryan during a recent visit, and he showed off the new TS 64 Transient Shaper and the all new beat-making environment BeatScape. Being a Logic Mac kind of guy for many years, the one thing that struck me about SONAR 8 was how much of a creative environment it is. With Logic Pro being in a sort of development pause, this is looking pretty enticing, in fact, with the new Macs capable of booting into Windows via Bootcamp, even people like me can now access all of this stuff, just boot into the dark side and firing up SONAR my Mac can become a fully functional SONAR system. In fact, maybe one day we’ll see a SONAR for Mac disc, which will install and Windows just right for the SONAR work environment - guys? SONAR 8 will begin shipping October 2nd 2008.
