The latest offering from Waldorf could be seen as somewhat esoteric. Namely 16 lowpass filters accessible from Waldorf's own VST plugins, audio sent to and from the unit via it's built in USB 2.0 interface. All this is housed in an impassive, brushed aluminium 2U rackmount case with 16 LEDs to indicate activity, plus power and USB activity. All 16 filters are discreet analog switchable between 12/24dB with analog distortion. The RFB16 comes with Waldorf's own Rot Analog Filter Step Sequencer Plugin. There are more VST intrument/plug-in adaptations in preparation. The AFB16 is going to appeal to many but it's price point may ensure it stays only in the hands of those who really must have it. It lists at $2495 and is expected to ship in May 2003.
