Thomas R Kolb (tkolb@penta.volvo.se) writes:
The Proteus 1 is a simple and laid-back sample playback module, with lots of polyphony and lots of immediate sounds at your fingertips. The selection of sounds is on the boring side - the same Phil Collins type of rock/pop sounds we've all heard a million times before. The Proteus is definitely not a sexy solo player, but if you want to offload your main workstation or synths from all those basic type of sounds, you can trust the Proteus to take care of them. And by the way - watch out for that terrible speaker-blowing "POP!" which emerges from the outputs when you switch the unit on or off - be sure to turn the fader down first...!

Comments About the Sounds:
The sound quality is very high - the 16 bit samples are all taken from the company's own E-mu III factory disks.

(Thanks to Thomas R Kolb for this info.)
