E-mu released the Proteus 2 and 2/XR Orchestral Sound Modules for the possibility of a virtual orchestra in a MIDI setting.
Comments About the Sounds:
Why couldn't the housing of the Proteus by metal instead of a flimsy plastic? I like the way the plug is not a "wall wart". I could not find a REAL trumpet sound. So many module get close to it, but they do not quite make it sound real. The legato strings are awesome and the flute sounds real.
